Job summary

Neighbourly Pharmacy in Nanaimo, BC is seeking a part-time Pharmacy Assistant to join our team. You will support pharmacists and technicians, greet customers, enter prescriptions, label and package medications, and help with daily operations in a busy community pharmacy.

The successful candidate has 1–3 years of retail pharmacy experience, strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to stand for long periods.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant in a retail pharmacy.
• Proficiency with Kroll and accurate prescription data entry.
• Completion of a pharmacy assistant program is an asset.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to thrive in a team.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift boxes when needed.
• Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Pharmasave #267 (Chase River) is looking for a part-time Pharmacy Assistant to join our team in Nanaimo, British Columbia.

Patient Focused Care Responsibilities

• Support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care
• Greet customers and answer phone calls in a professional manner
• Assist with entering, labelling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician
• Accurately count, measure, and package medications according to established protocols
• Receive and stock medication and supply shipments, monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, and support inventory audits
• Keep the pharmacy area clean and organized; safely dispose of expired medications and hazardous waste in accordance with regulations
• Perform clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning, and assist with insurance claims and prescription transfers
• Assist with daily pharmacy operations and perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant in a retail pharmacy witha preliminary understanding of the pharmacy business.
• Proficiency with Kroll, along with a high level of accuracy and efficiency in prescription data entry, is considered an asset.
• Completion of a pharmacy assistant program is an asset.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to thrive in a team environment
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to stand for long periods and occasional lifting of boxes/containers
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Schedule

• 20 to 24 hours per week (Part-time)
• The store operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Candidates must have flexible availability and be able to work a variety of shifts, including both weekdays and weekends, as required by business needs.
