Job summary

Neighbourly Pharmacy is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Assistant for Hillside Family Pharmacy in Ladysmith, BC. You will support pharmacists, greet customers, and assist with labeling, packaging, and inventory tasks.

The ideal candidate has completed a pharmacy assistant program or has related experience, strong communication, and the ability to work in a team with flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Completion of a pharmacy assistant program is preferred.
• Previous pharmacy experience is an asset; on-the-job training provided.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; team-oriented.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and Kroll.
• Flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care.
• Greet customers and answer phone calls professionally.
• Enter, label, and package prescriptions under supervision of a pharmacist or technician.
• Accurately count, measure, and package medications according to established protocols.
• Receive and stock medication and supplies; monitor inventory levels and rotate stock.
• Keep the pharmacy area clean and dispose of expired medications and hazardous waste per regulations.
• Perform clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning; assist with insurance claims and prescription transfers.
• Assist with daily pharmacy operations and other duties as assigned.

Patient Focused Care Responsibilities

• Support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care
• Greet customers and answer phone calls in a professional manner
• Assist with entering, labeling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician
• Accurately count, measure, and package medications according to established protocols
• Receive and stock medication and supply shipments, monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, and support inventory audits
• Keep the pharmacy area clean and organized; safely dispose of expired medications and hazardous waste in accordance with regulations
• Perform clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning, and assist with insurance claims and prescription transfers
• Assist with daily pharmacy operations and perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Completion of a pharmacy assistant program is preferred
• Previous experience within a pharmacy is an asset (on-the-job training will be provided)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to thrive in a team environment
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and Kroll.
• Ability to stand for long periods and occasional lifting of boxes/containers
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
