Job summary

Neighbourly Pharmacy is seeking a Full-Time Pharmacy Assistant for Lovell Drugs - KOPI Compounding Center in Kingston, Ontario. The role focuses on client service, compounding activities, and ensuring safety and regulatory standards are followed.

The successful candidate will contribute to inventory control, dispensing under supervision, and maintaining an organized, customer-friendly pharmacy environment. Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM, with opportunities for growth at a Canada-wide network.

Responsibilities

• Perform specialty compounding activities, preparing products according to master formulas.
• Adhere to compounding SOPs and safety procedures to minimize API exposure and contamination risk.
• Receive prescriptions from customers, label, count, and dispense under pharmacist supervision.
• Assist with inventory control and third-party billing.
• Maintain clean, professional pharmacy areas and handle routine duties as assigned.

Neighbourly Pharmacy is looking for a Full-Time Pharmacy Assistant to join our team at Lovell Drugs - KOPI Compounding Center in Kingston, Ontario.

Compensation listed is a starting point only and will be determined based on candidate experience.

Position Summary

The Compounding Pharmacy Assistant is in charge of offering top-notch client service in a polite, informed, and professional way. In addition to focusing on achieving pharmacy excellence in the areas of customer service, workflow efficiency, and inventory control, the compounding pharmacy Assistant is required to perform compounding activities including sterile and hazardous compound preparation, following all safety protocols in our state of the art facility. The Assistant is responsible for performing specific dispensing functions as outlined by provincial regulations and standards of practice.

Responsibilities

Dispensing

• Perform specialty compounding activities, preparing products according to master formulas
• Adhere to all compounding Standard Operating Procedures as maintained by the compounding supervisor
• Adhere to all safety and cleaning precautions and procedures to avoid exposure and contamination risk with Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs)
• Receive a written prescription from customers
• Locate the medication, select the prescription container, and count/pour the medication
• Attach the label to the prescription container
• Ensure that the original container, prescription container contents, and label are checked and initialized by the pharmacist
• Regularly phone customers for unclaimed prescriptions

Pharmacy Operations

• Keep all areas of the pharmacy clean, neat, and professional
• Maintain adequate stock of pharmacy supplies
• Answer the pharmacy telephone, except for the doctor's line, which should be answered by a pharmacist
• All doctor's calls and inquiries regarding prescriptions, copies, drug information, and poisons must be referred to a pharmacist
• Assist with third-party billing
• Set up a schedule for outdated pharmaceuticals
• Assist with inventory control
• Assist with checking off and putting away pharmaceutical orders
• Maintain stocks of pamphlets/consumer information
• Maintain OTC/non-prescription sections, as designated
• Other duties as required

Qualifications

• Preference will be given to those who have retail Pharmacy experience
• Kroll experience is an asset
