Job summary

Job description
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

This role reports to the Fitness & Wellness Coordinator.

SUMMARY

Personal Trainers are responsible for instructing clients and ensuring safe and proper use of fitness equipment. This role will be required to develop, document, and implement one to one, partner, or small group workout programs that meet the needs of the clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide personal training services and individualized workout programs based on client needs and goals.
  • Conduct fitness assessments as required.
  • Educate clients on how to use fitness equipment and perform exercises and ensure their safety during each session.
  • Provide instruction and exercise modification as necessary.
  • Plan and instruct group fitness classes that adhere to class description and certifications (if required).
  • Develop and present fitness related workshops as required.
  • Attends staff meetings and training as required.
  • Reports accidents to the appropriate supervisor and fills out incident reports as required.
  • Adheres to KPU Sport & Recreation Code of Conduct.
  • Other duties are necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 1 year minimum of personal training and group fitness experience
  • Valid First Aid, CPR, and AED
  • Valid Personal Training certificate (BCRPA, ACE, ACSM, or equivalent)
  • Additional certifications are an asset
  • Must be insurable as a Personal Trainer
  • Must have a good understanding of anatomy and exercise modifications for the general population
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse community
  • Must be personable, vibrant, and outgoing
  • Must have access to regular email and phone communication

Anticipated hourly pay rate: $29.00 to $38.00
