Job summary

Yee Hong in Markham is seeking a Personal Support Worker to provide personal care and assist residents with daily activities within a resident-centred care framework.

The temporary, part-time role requires an Ontario PSW credential and CPR certification, with potential extension. Evening shifts and weekend work may be necessary, and proficiency with Point Click Care and MS Office is a plus.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved PSW course in Ontario or equivalent.
• Current CPR Certificate.
• Registration with HSCPOA preferred.
• Resident-centred care focus with strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work independently and as a team player.
• Basic knowledge of Workday and MS Office; PC literacy.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and assist residents with daily living activities.
• Support residents' physical, social and emotional needs.
• Maintain safety and adhere to resident-centred care standards.

• Attend to shifts including evenings and weekends as required.

Job description

The Personal Support Worker (PSW) will provide personal care to assist clients in their daily activities and personal hygiene. The PSW will support the clients' physical, social and emotional needs in a safe manner, in accordance with the organization's resident-centred approach, complying with relevant government standards, residents' rights and the organizations mission and philosophy.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Personal Support Worker course in Ontario, or equivalent
• Experience in long term care setting an asset
• Current CPR Certificate
• Registration with Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) preferred.
• Resident-centred care focus with strong customer service and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative, problem-solve and time manage
• Ability to work independently as well as be an active, positive team player
• Behavioural management training (Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA), U-First, CPI) an asset
• Computer literacy (Point Click Care, MS Office). Basic knowledge of Workday an asset.
• Ability to speak and converse in Chinese an asset

Additional Information

Working Conditions

• Considerable standing, walking, lifting and bending
• Exposure to all resident care elements through regular resident contact.
• Ability to work evening shifts, including weekends and short shifts. May be required to work an alternate shift(s) to meet operational needs (e.g., emergency, training, accommodation, etc.) as per scheduling practices

This is a temporary part time position for 2 months , with possibility of extension

Salary Range: $25.41 - $27.62
