Job summary

Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care is seeking a Personal Support Worker (PSW) for a temporary part-time role in Ontario. The PSW will provide personal care and assist residents with daily activities and hygiene, while supporting physical, social and emotional needs in a resident-centred approach.

Applicants should have a PSW course in Ontario (or equivalent) and may have long-term care experience. Evening shifts and weekends are required; CPR certification is preferred and related registrations

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Personal Support Worker course in Ontario or equivalent.
• Experience in long-term care is an asset.
• CPR certificate preferred; relevant registrations welcomed.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and assist clients with daily activities and hygiene.
• Support physical, social and emotional well-being within resident-centred care principles.
• Accurately document observations and care provided, and follow safety protocols.

Job description

The Personal Support Worker (PSW) will provide personal care to assist clients in their daily activities and personal hygiene. The PSW will support the clients' physical, social and emotional needs in a safe manner, in accordance with the organization's resident-centred approach, complying with relevant government standards, residents' rights and the organizations mission and philosophy.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Personal Support Worker course in Ontario, or equivalent
• Experience in long term care setting an asset
• Current CPR Certificate Registration with Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) preferred.
• Resident-centred care focus with strong customer service and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative, problem-solve and time manage
• Ability to work independently as well as be an active, positive team player
• Behavioural management training (Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA), U-First, CPI) an asset
• Computer literacy (Point Click Care, MS Office).
• Basic knowledge of Workday an asset.
• Ability to speak and converse in Chinese an asset

Additional Information Working Conditions: Considerable standing, walking, lifting and bending Exposure to all resident care elements through regular resident contact. Ability to work evening shifts, including weekends and short shifts. May be required to work an alternate shift(s) to meet operational needs (e.g., emergency, training, accommodation, etc.) as per scheduling practices

This is a temporary part time position for 2 months, with possibility of extension
