Job summary

Yee Hong Centre For Geriatric Care is seeking a Personal Support Worker to provide personal care and support to residents in a long-term care setting. The role emphasizes a resident-centred approach, safety, and compassionate assistance with daily activities.

The position is temporary part-time for 3 months, with shifts that may include weekends and variable hours. CPR certification, PSW qualification, and willingness to work in a team are required, with accommodations considered as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved PSW program in Ontario or equivalent.
• Experience in long-term care is an asset.
• Current CPR certificate.
• HSCPOA registration preferred.
• Resident-centred care focus with strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving and time management.
• Ability to work independently as well as be an active, positive team player.
• GPA/U-First/CPI training an asset.
• Computer literacy with Point Click Care and MS Office; basic knowledge of Workday an asset.
• Ability to speak Chinese an asset.

Job description

The Personal Support Worker (PSW) will provide personal care to assist clients in their daily activities and personal hygiene. The PSW will support the clients' physical, social and emotional needs in a safe manner, in accordance with the organization's resident-centred approach, complying with relevant government standards, residents' rights and the organizations mission and philosophy.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Personal Support Worker course in Ontario, or equivalent
• Experience in long term care setting an asset
• Current CPR Certificate
• Registration with Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) preferred.
• Resident-centred care focus with strong customer service and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative, problem-solve and time manage
• Ability to work independently as well as be an active, positive team player
• Behavioural management training (Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA), U-First, CPI) an asset
• Computer literacy (Point Click Care, MS Office). Basic knowledge of Workday an asset.
• Ability to speak and converse in Chinese an asset

Additional Information

Working Conditions:

• Considerable standing, walking, lifting and bending
• Exposure to all resident care elements through regular resident contact.
• Ability to work day shifts, including weekends and short shifts. May be required to work an alternate shift(s) to meet operational needs (e.g., emergency, training, accommodation, etc.) as per scheduling practices
• This is a temporary part time position for 3 months

Salary Range

$25.41 - $27.62
