Responsibilities

1. Provide skilled care for all activities of daily living in accordance with corporate policy, established standards, and recognized nursing practice.
2. Assist registered staff in nursing diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
3. Complete all documentation on time, ensuring it is current and accurate per corporate policies.
4. Ensure a holistic, quality approach to resident care aligned with RhynoCare’s Mission, Vision, Values, and the Resident Bill of Rights.
5. Assist with resident meal service and restorative nursing.
6. Coordinate activities for effective resident care during shifts and across the unit.
7. Follow current legislation, best practices, corporate policies, and procedures in care execution.
8. Participate in risk management and quality improvement programs related to resident care.
9. Maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation for all care provided, complying with legislation and internal requirements.
10. Mentor new staff and students, promoting educational opportunities.
11. Engage in departmental, interdisciplinary, and safety meetings.
12. Promote teamwork among shifts, staff, and adherence to the collective agreement.
13. Adhere to health and safety procedures, including proper body mechanics, equipment use, safety protocols, and PPE usage.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Proficient in verbal and written English; second language skills are an asset.
• Meet one of the following criteria:
• Completion of a Ministry of Education approved PSW Training Program (minimum 640 hours) from a recognized college or school.
• RN, RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapy, or Physiotherapy students with Year 1 completion.
• Experience as a Facility PSW is an asset.

Additional requirements include a negative T.B. test or chest x-ray, current CPR and First Aid certificates, health surveillance compliance, and a recent criminal record check.
