Job title: Personal Lines Team Lead - 199

Location: Edmonton

Description
Personal Lines Team Lead

Edmonton, Alberta | Full-Time, Permanent | In-Office

About the Opportunity

Our client, a well-established and growing Canadian insurance brokerage, is looking for an experienced and people-focused Personal Lines Team Lead to join its Edmonton operation.

This is a newly revamped leadership position created to provide additional support and leadership capacity to an established and growing Personal Lines team. The successful candidate will play an important role in strengthening team development, workflow consistency, client service, and overall performance.

The primary focus of this position is people leadership, coaching, workflow management, and operational support. While some client involvement may be beneficial, the majority of the role will be dedicated to helping the team perform at its best.

This opportunity would suit an experienced Personal Lines professional who has naturally become a resource and mentor to others, or an existing Team Lead looking to take on a meaningful leadership role with long-term growth potential.

What You Will Do

Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, mentoring, and support to an established team of Personal Lines professionals.

Manage team workflow and help ensure consistent service standards, timely renewals, and effective handling of new and existing business.

Serve as a technical resource on Personal Lines products, underwriting requirements, coverage questions, and complex client situations.

Support team members with escalated client concerns and assist with resolving issues professionally and efficiently.

Coach employees to strengthen their technical knowledge, client service capabilities, confidence, and overall performance.

Create a collaborative, accountable, and positive team environment.

Help lead the team through operational changes and evolving business needs.

Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and ongoing employee development.

Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, workflow, and the client experience.

Support retention, cross-selling, and organic growth within the Personal Lines portfolio.

Build strong relationships with clients, insurer partners, internal stakeholders, and leadership.

Work closely with other Edmonton operations and senior Personal Lines leadership.

Remain current on insurer appetite, market conditions, underwriting requirements, industry developments, and regulatory changes.

Maintain some client involvement where appropriate while keeping the primary focus on team leadership and operational success.

What We Are Looking For

5+ years of progressive Personal Lines brokerage experience.

Alberta Level 2 General Insurance Licence.

Demonstrated leadership, coaching, mentoring, supervisory, or Team Lead experience.

Strong technical knowledge of Personal Lines insurance, including Home, Auto, Condo, Tenants, and related coverages.

Strong underwriting knowledge and the ability to work through complex insurance situations.

Experience handling escalated client concerns and service issues.

A strong understanding of brokerage workflows, insurer requirements, renewals, new business, and policy servicing.

Proven ability to build strong relationships with both clients and colleagues.

Strong organizational skills and an operational mindset.

The ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining consistency and attention to detail.

Confidence leading through change and supporting the professional development of others.

Strong communication, judgement, and problem-solving skills.

A client-first approach and commitment to high standards of service.

Experience with EPIC would be considered a strong asset.

A CIP or CAIB designation, or progress toward one, would also be an asset.

The Ideal Candidate

You are an experienced Personal Lines professional who has become someone colleagues naturally approach for advice, technical support, and guidance.

You enjoy developing people just as much as you enjoy solving insurance problems. You understand the day-to-day realities of working in a brokerage and can combine strong technical knowledge with effective leadership.

You are organized, accountable, approachable, and comfortable setting expectations while creating an environment where people feel supported and encouraged to grow.

Most importantly, you see leadership as an opportunity to help others succeed while improving consistency, client service, and team performance.

About the Company

Our client is one of Canada's established independent insurance brokerages, with a significant presence across the country and a strong commitment to employee development and long-term growth.

The organization places an emphasis on excellence, ownership, putting people first, and creating an enjoyable workplace. Employees have access to a collaborative environment where professional development, career progression, and employee participation in the success of the business are encouraged.
