Job summary

Prairie Valley School Division is seeking a Bus Driver to provide safe, reliable school transportation for students and school activities. You will operate a school bus and work as part of a team to support students' growth and development.

Requirements include Saskatchewan Class 1-5 Driver's License and School Bus Endorsement. Training is available for non-licensed drivers; a medical clearance and First Aid certification are required or obtainable at Prairie Valley School Division's expense.

Qualifications

• Must hold and maintain a Saskatchewan Class 1-5 Driver's License.
• Must hold a valid School Bus Endorsement; training available for non-licensed drivers.
• Clear driver\'s abstract with SGI driving records for last 5 years must be submitted.
• Satisfactory medical examinations as per The Highway Traffic Act.
• First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain it at employer expense.

Job Purpose

Bus Driver is responsible to provide safe and efficient transportation to and from school and school-related activities, working as part of a team to contribute to the growth and development of children and youth.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to safely and confidently operate a school bus
• Good working knowledge of The Highway and Transportation Act and The Traffic Safety Act
• Good working knowledge of the Saskatchewan Driver's Handbook and Saskatchewan Commercial Driver's Handbook
• Good understanding of, and ability to apply, a range of student behaviour strategies focused on positive reinforcement of desired behaviour
• Demonstrated patience, maturity and experience working with children
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Qualifications

• Must hold and maintain a valid Saskatchewan Class 1-5 Driver's License
• Must hold a valid School Bus Endorsement
  • training is available for non-licensed school bus drivers
• Clear driver's abstract, with no major infractions
  • A current Driver's Abstract from SGI detailing all (personal and commercial) driving records for the last 5 years must be submitted with your application
  • A copy of the abstract can be:

• Satisfactory medical examinations in accordance with The Highway Traffic Act
• First Aid Certification or be willing to obtain one at Prairie Valley School Division's expense.

Working Conditions

• Full time bus routes are paid at $58.63 per day plus a per km rate calculated at $0.23/km
  • The mileage for all routes will be paid at least at the minimum of 90 kms for a total of $79.33 per day

• Working in varied climates and differing road conditions
• Physical ability to load and unload students in wheelchairs may be required.
