Job summary

Chinook School Division, Saskatchewan, is seeking a Bus Driver Non Union (1.25 FTE Perm) for a double route serving Swift Current and area. You will transport students safely on attendance days and maintain the bus in good condition.

Applicants should hold a Class 5 license with School Bus 'S' Endorsement, have a clean driving record, and be capable of working both independently and as part of a team while communicating effectively with schools and families.

Qualifications

• Minimum Class 5 license with School Bus 'S' Endorsement.
• Satisfactory driving abstract.
• Experience working with children.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work as part of a team and independently.
• Good physical condition with ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport students on attendance days.
• Regular cleaning of the bus.
• Adherence to safe driving procedures.
• Compliance with PPE procedures.
• Advising parents of route changes.
• Regularly communicating with school Administration and Transportation Department personnel regarding student conduct.
• Conducting daily vehicle inspections as required by The Traffic Safety Act.
• Ensuring bus maintenance standards are being maintained and reported to the bus garage.
• Providing casual employees with an orientation to the bus, route and rules.
• Promoting the Chinook School Division vision, mission, values and goals.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport students to and from school on all student attendance days;
• Regular cleaning of the bus;
• Adherence to safe bus driving procedures;
• Compliance with all personal protective equipment procedures;
• Advising parents of route changes;
• Regularly communicating with school Administration and Transportation Department personnel regarding student conduct;
• Conducting daily vehicle inspections as required by The Traffic Safety Act;
• Ensuring bus maintenance standards are being maintained and mechanical deficiencies are reported to the bus garage in a timely manner;
• Providing casual employees with an orientation to your bus, bus route and rules specific to your route;
• Promoting the vision, mission, values and goals of Chinook School Division;

Desired Qualifications And Skills

• Minimum Class 5 license with School Bus 'S' Endorsement;
• Possess and maintain a satisfactory driver’s abstract;
• Previous experience working with children;
• Strong communication skills;
• Strong interpersonal skills;
• Strong cognitive ability to make sound decisions;
• Ability to work as part of a team;
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
• Ability to deal with a broad range of students, staff and members of the general public;
• Basic computer skills;

• Pay Range: $20.29 - $22.17 per hour and bus expense allowances. This double route is deemed to have a 5 hour work day.
