Job summary

Coast Mountain College (CMTN) invites applications for a full-time Payroll Specialist at the Terrace campus. The role focuses on accurate end-to-end payroll processing in line with legislation, policies and collective agreements, while modernizing payroll practices to better serve employees and the College.

You will collaborate with HR and Finance, maintain employee records in Colleague, prepare payroll reports, and provide clear payroll guidance.

Qualifications

• Two-year diploma (Bachelor’s preferred) in Accounting or Business.
• PCP certification preferred.
• Knowledge of full cycle payroll and year-end processes.
• Experience with Colleague payroll system.
• Able to work independently with strong confidentiality.
• Experience in a unionized environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process end-to-end payroll in compliance with regulations and policies.
• Calculate deductions, taxes, pension, and benefit premiums.
• Process timesheets and seniority lists accurately.
• Maintain employee records in Colleague HRIS.
• Collaborate with HR, Finance for payroll alignment.
• Prepare payroll documents and reports (ROE, pension, etc.).
• Communicate payroll information clearly to employees and managers.
• Identify process improvements and support audits and year-end activities.
