Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for administration of full-cycle bi-weekly payroll for SilverStar’s employees, while auditing payroll processing reports for accuracy
- Coordinate the payroll process with all departments for the purpose of processing payroll in compliance with established guidelines
- Assist with maintenance of HRIS system configuration and testing as needed
- Implement payroll process improvements as needed
- Prepare and issue Records of Employment
- Prepare WCB and EHT reports and remittances
- Responsible for processing T4s and all payroll year-end requirements
- Prepare bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc payroll reports
- Process salary increases, bonuses, retro pay and other pay adjustments
- Monitor absence reporting to verify eligibility and accuracy
- Perform payroll-related G/L account reconciliations
- Communicate with a variety of internal and external parties for the purpose of ensuring accurate processing of payroll and related reporting requirements
- Maintain detailed records and documentation in written and electronic formats of payroll information and processes for audit purposes, in accordance with statutory requirements
- Verify a variety of payroll related information (e.g., time sheets, benefits, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring accuracy
- Respond to all inquiries arising from questions about payroll and provide information and / or direction
- Liase with Human Resources to ensure employees are onboarded / enrolled in the HRIS system
- Ensure compliance with legislative requirements and internal policies / procedures
Benefits Administration
- Provide overall administration of benefit plans
- Enroll, maintain and remove employees from company benefit plans, including retirement savings plans
- Provide benefit information and review documentation with employees enrolling in benefits
- Perform regular invoice, payroll and G/L reconciliations
- Assist with annual benefit renewals
- Ensure compliance with plan requirements
Qualifications / Skills Required
- Must be familiar with Paycom or be willing to be trained.
- Minimum 3 yrs. payroll experience for salaried and hourly employees
- Possess or working towards payroll certifications (PCP / PLP)
- Demonstrated tact and professionalism when dealing with sensitive files and information
- Strong verbal/written communication skills; ability to deal effectively with all levels of the organization
- Current knowledge of legislations such as Employment Standards, Canada Revenue Agency and Workers’ Compensation
- Advance proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Excel and Word).
- Work well in a team environment and independently.
- Passing of criminal background check required.
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
