Job summary

Priority Dispatch Corp. in British Columbia seeks an experienced Payroll & Benefits Manager to lead full-cycle payroll for salaried and hourly staff, ensuring accuracy and compliance in a collaborative environment.

You will work with Finance and HRIS teams, manage ROEs, T4s, and benefit renewals, and maintain audit-ready payroll records. Proficiency in Paycom and MS Office is required.

Qualifications

  • Must be familiar with Paycom or be willing to be trained.
  • Minimum 3 yrs payroll experience for salaried and hourly employees.
  • Currently pursuing payroll certifications (PCP/PLP)

Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle bi-weekly payroll processing and audit payroll reports.
  • Coordinate payroll with departments to ensure compliance with guidelines.
  • Assist with HRIS configuration and testing as needed.
  • Prepare and issue Records of Employment (ROEs).
  • Prepare and file WCB and EHT reports and remittances.
  • Handle payroll year-end tasks including T4s and year-end processes.
  • Produce payroll reports on various cadences (bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual).
  • Process salary adjustments, bonuses, retroactive pay, and other changes.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for administration of full-cycle bi-weekly payroll for SilverStar’s employees, while auditing payroll processing reports for accuracy
  • Coordinate the payroll process with all departments for the purpose of processing payroll in compliance with established guidelines
  • Assist with maintenance of HRIS system configuration and testing as needed
  • Implement payroll process improvements as needed
  • Prepare and issue Records of Employment
  • Prepare WCB and EHT reports and remittances
  • Responsible for processing T4s and all payroll year-end requirements
  • Prepare bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc payroll reports
  • Process salary increases, bonuses, retro pay and other pay adjustments
  • Monitor absence reporting to verify eligibility and accuracy
  • Perform payroll-related G/L account reconciliations
  • Communicate with a variety of internal and external parties for the purpose of ensuring accurate processing of payroll and related reporting requirements
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation in written and electronic formats of payroll information and processes for audit purposes, in accordance with statutory requirements
  • Verify a variety of payroll related information (e.g., time sheets, benefits, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring accuracy
  • Respond to all inquiries arising from questions about payroll and provide information and / or direction
  • Liase with Human Resources to ensure employees are onboarded / enrolled in the HRIS system
  • Ensure compliance with legislative requirements and internal policies / procedures
Benefits Administration
  • Provide overall administration of benefit plans
  • Enroll, maintain and remove employees from company benefit plans, including retirement savings plans
  • Provide benefit information and review documentation with employees enrolling in benefits
  • Perform regular invoice, payroll and G/L reconciliations
  • Assist with annual benefit renewals
  • Ensure compliance with plan requirements
Qualifications / Skills Required
  • Must be familiar with Paycom or be willing to be trained.
  • Minimum 3 yrs. payroll experience for salaried and hourly employees
  • Possess or working towards payroll certifications (PCP / PLP)
  • Demonstrated tact and professionalism when dealing with sensitive files and information
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills; ability to deal effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Current knowledge of legislations such as Employment Standards, Canada Revenue Agency and Workers’ Compensation
  • Advance proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Excel and Word).
  • Work well in a team environment and independently.
  • Passing of criminal background check required.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
