Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate, detail-oriented, and hard-working individual to take on the role of Payroll Specialist. This position is on-site at our Richmond office. The role involves processing semi-monthly payroll for over 700 employees across 16 locations in British Columbia.

Payroll Responsibilities:

  1. Complete the full payroll cycle, from onboarding team members to offboarding.
  2. Prepare and process regular pay, benefit payments, and special payments such as bonuses and vacation pay within a tight 2-day deadline.
  3. Process terminations and ensure compliance with employment standards (ROE, vacation pay, final pay cheques, etc.).
  4. Ensure statutory tax and compliance requirements are met, including preparing payroll reports for WCB and labour standards inquiries, and quarterly WCB payments.
  5. Compile, review, and monitor reports related to pay and benefits, such as payroll reports, labour usage, and staff counts.
  6. Respond promptly and professionally to employee payroll inquiries and requests.
  7. Maintain time-off records for management staff.
  8. Assist with HR administrative duties, including onboarding, offboarding, and benefits administration.

Qualifications, Skills, Experience, and Attributes:

  1. 2-3 years of full-cycle payroll processing experience.
  2. Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certificate from the Canadian Payroll Association or working towards certification (preferred).
  3. Up-to-date understanding of BC Labour Standards.
  4. Exposure to US payroll requirements, specifically Washington, Oregon, and California (preferred).
  5. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  6. Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
  7. High attention to detail.
  8. Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  10. Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
