Job Description :
Reporting to the Payroll & Benefits Manager, the Payroll & Benefits Analyst is responsible for assisting the Payroll & Benefits department with the timely and accurate processing of bi-weekly and semi-monthly employee payrolls. This role provides daily guidance to the Payroll & Benefits Administrator and handles all government remittances, payroll and benefits-related G/L account reconciliations, and payroll bank account reconciliations.
Work is primarily performed in an office setting, with regular visits to the LDI Mine Site.
Responsibilities :
- Lead payroll services to ensure accurate and timely processing across all scheduled and off-cycle payrolls, complying with current legislation and collective agreements.
- Process and verify special payments, manual checks, and regular remittances.
- Manage payrolls for corporate employees, directors, and special payrolls such as stock options.
- Design and generate reports and queries related to payroll and benefits as needed by management.
- Handle year-end processing, including T4/T4A summaries and slips, WSIB, and Employer Health Tax.
- Maintain employee information in the Avanti Human Resources/Payroll System, including entering, editing, and updating data.
- Review payroll prior to transmission and validate reports.
- Liaise with Human Resources to ensure timely updates of new hires, salary changes, transfers, leaves, and terminations.
- Administer the Avanti system, including Employee Self Service (ESS).
- Ensure accurate processing of source deductions, WSIB, and Employer Health Tax filings monthly, quarterly, and annually.
- Manage employee communications regarding benefit plans.
- Maintain payroll files and records, ensuring information is current and complete.
- Ensure confidentiality of payroll information.
- Review expense forms and Mastercard reconciliations for accuracy and taxable benefits.
- Address employee inquiries and concerns regarding payroll.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Ensure compliance with Impala Canada safety, health, and environmental policies, and adhere to Occupational Health and Safety standards.
Qualifications :
- 3-5 years of payroll experience.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification through the Canadian Payroll Association.
- Experience in a unionized environment is an asset.
- Knowledge of group benefits is an asset.
- Experience with payroll systems, preferably Avanti and 4site.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Excel, Avanti, and 4site software.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
- Leadership qualities and ability to motivate team members.
