THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator to join our team at our Burnaby corporate offices. The Payroll Administrator is responsible for processing payroll for Inland’s Canadian employees. In this role, you will be responsible for full-life-cycle payroll administration for union, non-union, and salaried employees.

SALARY RANGE

The salary range for this role is $55,000- $69,000, based on experience.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process full cycle Canadian hourly union and non-union and salaried employees
  • Process new hires, terminations and rate changes, direct deposits, payroll deductions, pension and 401k and T-4’s and W-4’s,
  • Comply with collective agreements when processing payroll for union branches
  • Completing year end payroll procedures including the preparation and distribution of all employee tax documents.
  • Providing superior assistance in responding to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues or concerns.
  • Prepare monthly wage accruals for hourly employees
  • Prepare fiscal year end accruals for salaried employees
  • Participate in reconciliation of payroll accounts for month end
  • Respond to employee and manager questions regarding payroll
  • Cross-train with other payroll administrators on :
  • Reconciliation of all banked time to general ledger on a quarterly basis
  • Reconciliation of all accrued vacation to general ledger on a quarterly basis
  • Calculation of RRSP and 401k employer contribution matches
  • Create reports and ensure appropriate deductions and remittances are submitted such as, ROE’s, garnishments, Worker’s compensation, etc.
  • Maintain accurate data in HRIS / Payroll systems
  • Participate in regular payroll audits to guarantee accuracy of data and ensure policies and procedures are fairly and accurately administered

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

  • Diploma or post-secondary degree in business or related field preferred
  • Canadian Payroll Association certification as a Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) would be an asset
  • Two to four years related experience and strong working knowledge of Payroll, especially hourly and union and non-union payroll for Canada
  • General knowledge of best practices for payroll and working knowledge of Canadian labour standards
  • Proficiency with ADP payroll systems such as ADP Workforce Now
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Basic accounting knowledge required
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented with accurate data entry skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, team player, with a great customer service approach
  • Ability to make arithmetical calculations with speed and accuracy, to enter data with speed and accuracy, to pay attention to detail, and to take responsibility for completion and follow through of all tasks.
  • Functions well with large volume and fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Accountability and dependability
