Job summary

New StarCapital is seeking a Payroll and Accounting Coordinator to support payroll processing and day-to-day accounting across the organization. The role reports to the Controller and CFO and is based at the head office in South Edmonton.

The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of handling confidential information with discretion, with opportunities to grow payroll and accounting responsibilities in a fast-paced, multi-location environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of payroll and/or accounting administration.
• Experience processing Canadian payroll is required.
• PCP designation or in progress required.
• Strong knowledge of payroll processes and Canadian payroll legislation.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Experience with Payworks or another payroll system is an asset.
• Experience with Acumatica or another accounting/ERP system is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Maintain employee payroll records (new hires, terminations, changes).
• Process biweekly payroll for multiple locations.
• Handle deductions, benefits, vacation and other payroll-related adjustments.
• Post payroll journals in Acumatica and month-end accruals.
• Run payroll reports for records and management review.
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries professionally.
• Ensure payroll practices comply with federal and provincial legislation.
• Coordinate banking and housing deductions as needed.
