New StarCapital is seeking a full-time Payroll and Accounting Coordinator to join its accounting team located at its head office in South Edmonton. The Payroll and Accounting Coordinator will report to New Star’s Controller and CFO.

PositionSummary
Weare seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll & Accounting Coordinatorto join our Finance & Accounting team. This position will provide supportfor payroll processing and day-to-day accounting activities across theorganization.
Thesuccessful candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellentorganizational skills, and the ability to handle confidential information withdiscretion. KeyResponsibilities
Payroll
- Maintain employee payrollrecords, including new hires, terminations, changes to compensation,banking information, benefits, and tax information.
- Process payroll on a biweeklybasis for employees across multiple locations and business:
- Review electronic timesheets foraccuracy and follow up on discrepancies (we use bio-clock technology fortime capture);
- Process employee deductions,benefits, vacation, sick time, and other payroll-related adjustments.
- Process terminations and ROEs, calculate final pay (as required per AlbertaLabour Standards);
- Keepingrecord and obtaining manager authorization of payroll changes andreflecting those in Payworks;
- Processingand reviewing preview payroll register that incorporates any payrollchanges during period;
- Posting payroll journal entriesin Acumatica after each pay cycle and posting the payroll accrual at monthend;
- Running payroll reports fromPayworks for Record keeping and for the Management Team – Department hoursby employees, overtime, payroll register, fund summary report;
- Bioclock troubleshooting, helpingmanagers will clock issues
- Reconciling Employee housing andrelated payroll deductions and deposits.
- Respond to employee and managerpayroll inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Maintain accurate andconfidential payroll documentation.
- Ensure payroll practices complywith applicable federal and provincial legislation and company policies.
Benefits
- Benefitadministration of employee plans: entitlement, enrollment, termination;
- Reconciliationof monthly invoices to payroll deductions and active employee for the first payof each month;
- Updatingbenefit deductions for each new plan year.
WCB
- ManageWCB calculations – complete reporting for annual estimates, actual and mid-yeartrue ups where necessary.
Accounting
- Performreconciliations and tracking for daily sales, cash, and inventory between counts,bank records, and software reporting;
- Completebank reconciliations;
- Prepare,review and post month-end journal entries and accruals;
- Reconcilecustomer accounts and prepare payments;
- Respondto account inquiries
CreditCard & Accounts Payable Support
- Preparecredit card reconciliations and manage payment deadlines;
- Postaccounts payable and payment batches in Acumatica;
- Provideaccounts payable support as required.
AdditionalResponsibilities:
- Provideadministrative support including filing and maintaining organized records;
- Assistwith special projects and other duties as required.

Qualifications& Experience
- 2+years of experience in payroll and/or accounting administration.
- Experienceprocessing Canadian payroll is required.
- PayrollCompliance Professional designation (PCP) or working toward thedesignation, is required.
- Strongknowledge of payroll processes and Canadian payroll legislation.
- StrongMicrosoft Excel skills.
- Experiencewith Payworks or another payroll system is an asset.
- Experiencewith Acumatica or another accounting/ERP system is an asset.
- Experienceworking with payroll for multiple locations or entities is an asset.
