Job summary

Dynacare is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to help collect quality blood samples and perform related tests in a patient-centered environment. You will work as part of a team to ensure accurate data entry and maintain high standards of care.

The role emphasizes phlebotomy skills, empathy for patients, and adherence to SOPs and quality metrics in an on-site laboratory setting in Ottawa area. The position is permanent part-time with day shifts.

Qualifications

• Completed Secondary School and a Laboratory Assistant training program or a Medical Lab Assistant course with specialized training in phlebotomy.
• Customer-focused with genuine care for patient health.
• Proficient in phlebotomy and calming anxious patients.

Responsibilities

• Create an ideal customer experience and engage with patients about products and services.
• Accurately enter data, patient, and test information for Health Ministry requisitions.
• Obtain quality blood samples and other specimens using venipuncture techniques.
• Sort and steer specimens, perform ECGs, Holter hookups, paternity, urine, drug, and breath alcohol collections.
• Ensure specimens and documentation are complete and ready for data entry and transport.
• Maintain confidentiality and contribute to quality metrics and regulatory compliance.
