Job summary

Peace River School Division is seeking a highly motivated Part-Time (0.90 f.t.e.) Temporary Educational Assistant at École Springfield Elementary School to provide targeted literacy and numeracy support to small groups of students in Grades 1-3.

The position will commence August 27, 2026 and continue to June 29, 2027, with a CUPE union framework and a pay rate of $22.59–$28.02 per hour, depending on experience and education under the collective agreement.

Qualifications

• Educational Assistant Certificate or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
• Experience working directly with young children (Grades 1-3 preferred).
• Experience and understanding of foundational literacy and numeracy concepts (e.g. phonics, phonological awareness, early number sense).

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted literacy and numeracy support to small groups of Grades 1–3 students.
• Follow structured intervention plans under supervision.
• Collaborate with teachers and district office Program Coordinators.

Job description

Peace River School Division is seeking a highly motivated Part-Time (0.90 f.t.e.) Temporary Educational Assistant at École Springfield Elementary School to provide targeted literacy and numeracy support to small groups of students in Grades 1-3. The position will commence on August 27, 2026 and continue to June 29, 2027.

École Springfield Elementary School is located in the Town of Peace River and has an enrollment of approximately 360 students. Programming at the school consists of English, French Immersion and French Second Language programs for Grades K-4 students.

Qualifications:

• Educational Assistant Certificate or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
• Experience working directly with young children (Grades 1-3 preferred)
• Experience and understanding of foundational literacy and numeracy concepts (e.g. phonics, phonological awareness, early number sense)

Skills:

• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with teachers and district office Program Coordinators
• A strong desire to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Ability to work independently.
• The ability to work independently, manage small groups effectively, and follow structured intervention plans.
• High level of commitment, accountability, and reliability.

Rate of Pay

$22.59 to $28.02 per hour(dependent on experience and education in accordance with the collective agreement between the CUPE Local 4839 and the Peace River School Division).
