The Peace River School Division is seeking a highly motivated Part-Time Educational Assistant at Worsley Central School to provide targeted literacy and numeracy support to small groups of students in Grades 1-3. This role may also include working with students in grades 4-12 depending on school needs and qualifications.

The position starts on August 26, 2026, and concludes on June 29, 2027. A competitive hourly wage of $22.59 to $28.02 is offered, along with various benefits after probation.

Qualifications

• Experience working directly with young children, preferably in Grades 1-3.
• Understand foundational literacy and numeracy concepts such as phonics and number sense.
• High level of commitment, reliability, and accountability.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted literacy and numeracy support to small groups of students.

• Follow structured intervention plans and manage small groups.

Job description

Peace River School Division is seeking a highly motivated Part‑Time (0.35 f.t.e.) Educational Assistant at Worsley Central School to provide targeted literacy and numeracy support to small groups of students in Grades 1‑3. This position may also include working with students in grades 4‑12 depending on the school needs and applicant qualifications. The position will commence on August 26, 2026 and continue to June 29, 2027.

Worsley is a small farming community in northern Alberta located about 170 km west of Peace River. Worsley School serves students from grades K‑12.

Qualifications

• Educational Assistant Certificate or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
• Experience working directly with young children (Grades 1‑3 preferred)
• Experience and understanding of foundational literacy and numeracy concepts (e.g., phonics, phonological awareness, early number sense)

Skills

• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with teachers and district office Program Coordinators
• A strong desire to work effectively as part of a multi‑disciplinary team. Ability to work independently.
• The ability to work independently, manage small groups effectively, and follow structured intervention plans.
• High level of commitment, accountability, and reliability.

Application Requirements

• Provide an acceptance current Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check (must be less than six months old).

Rate Of Pay

$22.59 to $28.02 per hour (dependent on experience and education in accordance with the collective agreement between the CUPE Local 4839 and the Peace River School Division).
