Peace River School Division is seeking a highly motivated Part-Time (0.60 f.t.e.) Temporary Educational Assistant at Worsley Central School to provide targeted literacy and numeracy support to small groups of students in Grades 1-3. The role may include grades 4-12 based on needs and qualifications.

The position commences August 27, 2026, with a union contract under CUPE Local 4839. Benefits eligible after probation, wage range $22.59–$28.02 per hour depending on experience and education.

Qualifications

• Educational Assistant Certificate or equivalent education/experience.
• Experience with young children (Grades 1-3 preferred).
• Understanding of foundational literacy and numeracy concepts.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted literacy and numeracy support to small groups of students in Grades 1–3.
• May work with students in grades 4–12 depending on needs and qualifications.
• Collaborate with teachers and district program coordinators; follow intervention plans.

Job description

Peace River School Division is seeking a highly motivated Part-Time (0.60 f.t.e.)Temporary Educational Assistant at Worsley Central School to provide targeted literacy and numeracy support to small groups of students in Grades 1-3. This position may also include working with students in grades 4-12 depending on the school needs and applicant qualifications. The position will commence on August 27, 2026.

Worsley is a small farming community in northern Alberta located about 170 kmswest of Peace River. Worsley School serves students from grades K-12.

Qualifications:

• Educational Assistant Certificate or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
• Experience working directly with young children (Grades 1-3 preferred)
• Experience and understanding of foundational literacy and numeracy concepts (e.g. phonics, phonological awareness, early number sense)

Skills:

• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with teachers and district office Program Coordinators
• A strong desire to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Ability to work independently.
• The ability to work independently, manage small groups effectively, and follow structured intervention plans.
• High level of commitment, accountability, and reliability.

Rate of Pay:

$22.59 to $28.02 per hour(dependent on experience and education in accordance with the collective agreement between the CUPE Local 4839 and the Peace River School Division).
