Job summary

Extendicare St. Catharines is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) for a part-time role. Shift 6am-2pm, 15 hours biweekly, located in St. Catharines. Reporting to the Director of Care, you will support nursing practice in line with Ontario standards.

Responsibilities include resident assessment, care plan development, supervising support staff, and medication administration. Closing date: Oct 29, 2026; salary range $33.47–$35.07 hourly.

Qualifications

• Appropriate current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario required.
• Experience dealing with the cognitively impaired.
• Comprehensive knowledge of nursing & health care practices, with knowledge in Infection Control Practices.
• Demonstrated commitment to working with seniors.
• Ability to work effectively individually & with others while prioritizing tasks to handle the most urgent first.
• Ability to present information clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing; active listener with friendly demeanor.
• Ability to collect and use information to think through problems and generate solutions.
• Organizational, planning, time management and multi-tasking skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure resident care is provided with established nursing standards and physicians’ orders and policies; observe and record vital signs and conditions.
• Assist in assessing residents and develop, implement, review, and evaluate care plans; monitor health and note changes.
• Plan, direct, supervise and evaluate the work of personal care staff on the unit.
• Assist in preparing the Facility for RAI MDS.
• Staff replacement in the absence of the Registered Nurse.
• Complete medication passes in an accurate and timely manner.
