Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a part‑time Registered Nurse to enhance nursing practice daily in line with provincial standards and internal policies. The role involves supervising care staff, assessing residents, and ensuring care plans align with physician orders and policies.

The RN will contribute to a compassionate, community‑focused team, handling assessments, supervision, and coordination within a union and non‑union framework. Access to a reliable vehicle for community home care is required.

Qualifications

• Current certificate of competence from the approved institutions for the province (Ontario).
• Registered or eligible for registration with the approved professional institutions for the province.
• Previous experience in community or long‑term care with knowledge of duties.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritizing tasks by urgency.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and problem‑solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring resident/patient care is provided with established nursing standards and physicians’ orders and administrative policies.
• Assisting in assessment and monitoring of residents/patients while developing, implementing, reviewing and evaluating care plans.
• Managing and evaluating the work of nursing and personal care staff on the unit, including orientations and supervision.
• Monitoring performance, conducting performance appraisals and referring issues to the Director of Care.
• Providing direction to the nursing department in the absence of the Director of Care.
