Overview

High School Math/Science Teacher/Tutor Wanted. Oxford Learning Sherwood Park is currently seeking part-time teacher-tutors for a role in our learning centre. This position is in-person and perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys numbers and equations, and is passionate about helping others build their skills in math and science.

This role does not require you to create lesson plans before class, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Position Details

Location: Oxford Learning Sherwood Park, 41 Broadway Blvd, Sherwood Park, AB. This is an in-person position. You must be able to commute to the location. Relocation packages are not available.

Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory. This position is not online. You must reside in or within a short commute of the Edmonton/Sherwood Park area.

Responsibilities
  • Work directly with students as an Interactive Coach
  • Teach up to 3 students at a time at different levels
  • Teach online and in-person sessions
  • Follow the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Fill in post-lesson notes
  • Complete daily student communication updates
  • Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times
Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification is an asset
  • Good knowledge of current Grades 9-12 math and science curriculum (including, but not limited to, Advanced Functions, algebra, trigonometry, calculus, vectors, physics, chemistry, and biology)

Experience

  • Experience teaching/tutoring math and science at Grade 9–12 (or equivalent)
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills
  • Strong math skills with the ability to guide students’ understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
