Job summary

Oakville Public Library is seeking a Library Assistant to support branch services, materials handling, and daily operations at the White Oaks Branch in Oakville. The role emphasizes customer-first service, knowledge of library systems, and the ability to work across days, evenings, and weekends to meet community needs.

The successful candidate will greet patrons, guide access to collections and services, and assist with self-checkout and holds.

Qualifications

• Secondary School Diploma required or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of related customer service experience.
• Experience with ILS and RFID is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and provide friendly, customer-first service.
• Promote library programs, services, and technologies to patrons.
• Assist with materials handling, shelving, and RFID check-in/out.
• Support branch operations including program setup and opening/closing duties.
• Resolve issues or escalate to in-charge staff as needed.
