Job summary

Commissionaires Great Lakes is seeking Commissionaires for Burlington, Ontario. You will enforce city parking by-laws, patrol assigned beats, and conduct site inspections while providing courteous service to residents and clients.

Ideal candidates hold a valid Ontario Security Guard license, First Aid/CPR, and a Class G driver's license with a clean driving record. This full-time role requires strong computer skills and de-escalation ability during extensive city-wide walking.

Qualifications

• Requires Ontario Security Guard license and valid First Aid/CPR.
• Must hold a valid Class 'G' Ontario driver's license and clean abstract.
• Strong computer skills with Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.
• Ability to think critically and walk extensively on duty.
• Capability to de-escalate situations when needed.

Responsibilities

• Enforce Burlington By-Laws and related policies.
• Maintain patrol beat per schedule and client requests.
• Inspect site equipment daily and report issues.
• Respond to calls for parking By-Law enforcement.
• Assist other detachment members and law enforcement as needed.
• Maintain professional appearance, hygiene and deportment.
• Assist residents, visitors, employees and clients.
• Complete daily logs and written reports.
• Patrol Burlington to issue tickets and chalk vehicles.
• Perform other duties as requested by client or supervisor.

INTRODUCTION:

Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 on a mandate that prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well being of Canadians primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, our services are customized to respond to the dynamic and evolving security needs of both private and public sector clients. These include uniformed guard, mobile response and support services, by-law enforcement and identification services.

We are currently seeking a Commissionaire to join our growing team. This posting is for an existing vacancy.

WHAT OUR EXCEPTIONAL COMMISSIONAIRES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

• Enforce the City of Burlington Parking By-Laws and related policies
• Maintain assigned patrol beat as per schedule, or as requested by the client
• Conduct daily inspection of site equipment, including hand-held machines, printers, and duty vehicle (if applicable)
• Respond to calls from the City of Burlington for parking By-Law enforcement
• Provide assistance to other members of the detachment, as well as law enforcement agencies, as requested
• Maintain a high level of standards with regards to personal appearance, hygiene, and deportment
• Provide assistance to residents, visitors, employees, clients, etc
• Complete daily logs and written reports as necessary
• Patrol the City of Burlington to issue parking tickets and chalk vehicles in accordance with local parking regulations
• Perform other duties as requested by client, supervisor, or regional manager

• Valid Ontario Security Guard License
• Valid First Aid and CPR certificate
• *MUST* have valid Class 'G' Ontario Driver's License
• *MUST* clear driver's abstract
• Possess excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Suite. eg: Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.
• Be able to think critically
• Be able to walk extensively throughout the city as part of shift duties
• Be able to de-escalate situations as necessary

• Working Hours: 1900-0600 (Rotational shifts)
