Job summary

The Salvation Army Canada and Bermuda Territory in Sudbury, ON is seeking a Full Time Overnight Worker to provide a safe, welcoming environment for shelter residents during the night shift (12:30 a.m.–8:30 a.m.). You will support housing referrals, meals, and daily operations under direction from supervision.

Qualifications include a Community College Diploma in Social Work or related field, CPIC with vulnerable sector screening, and First Aid/CPR with Safe Food Handlers certification.

Qualifications

• More than three months but less than one year of prior related experience
• Community College Diploma in Social Work, Addictions, or related field an asset
• Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
• Original copy of Criminal Police Investigation Check (CPIC) with vulnerable sector screening
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
• First Aid/CPR/and Safe Food Handlers Certification
• Read and follow with the provisions of the Position Description and Operational Manual
• Perform other duties position related duties as assigned

Responsibilities

• Exercising initiative, carries out duties with minimal direction and supervision
• Record and report activities, behaviors, and incidents; enter into HIFIS
• Perform new intake input into Homeless Individuals and Family System with consent; prescreen guests
• Conduct nightly rounds; ensure beds and logs are kept up to date
• Ensure guests and staff safety by checking windows, doors, and exits
• Prepare dinner for the following day and ensure stock for breakfast and lunch
• Keep fridge and freezers organized; provide food inventory to management
• Enter statistics for referrals, turnaways, and services; log per policy
• Clean main floor and kitchen; sanitize surfaces and remove trash; maintain temperature logs
