Job summary

The Salvation Army in London, ON is seeking a part-time Shelter Support Worker to help ensure a safe, clean environment for clients. You will conduct intake, provide crisis support, maintain records, and promote harm reduction and community engagement.

Responsibilities include monitoring access, assisting with admissions and referrals, and collaborating with staff to deliver compassionate services in alignment with our mission and safety policies.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 with up to six months of specialized courses.
• First Aid + CPR and Food Safe certification.
• Three months of related experience minimum.
• Familiarity with cleaning procedures in an org setting.
• Experience with diverse populations and mental health/addictions.

Responsibilities

• Monitor safety and security of clients and facility.
• Conduct client intake, assess suitability, admissions/discharges.
• Provide crisis support and refer to services as directed.
• Maintain accurate documentation and logs in systems.
• Promote harm reduction and assist with activities.
• Perform light cleaning and maintain sanitary spaces.
• Collaborate with team to maintain a respectful workplace.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
