The role combines business development, account management, supplier collaboration, and consultative selling in a highly customer-facing environment.
As the Senior Representative – Outside Sales, you will be responsible for developing new business opportunities and growing assigned customer accounts while driving sales, margin, and long-term customer relationships.
Identify and qualify prospective customers by assessing market potential and developing new business opportunities throughout the territory.
Prospect for new customers through cold calling, referrals, networking, and other lead-generation activities.
Develop territory sales forecasts and execute account plans in collaboration with management.
Identify opportunities to expand revenue and margin through value-added services, supplier programs, and strategic sales initiatives.
Build and maintain strong relationships with new, existing, and previous customers to support account growth and retention.
Meet directly with customers to understand their operational and business requirements and recommend appropriate products, services, and solutions.
Engage with stakeholders across technical, operations, supply chain, procurement, and executive leadership functions.
Maintain ongoing communication after the sale to ensure customer satisfaction, resolve issues, and identify additional opportunities.
Develop a strong understanding of the company’s product and service portfolio through internal and supplier-led training.
Present products and solutions based on customer requirements and demonstrate their functionality and value where appropriate.
Develop and deliver sales presentations, proposals, quotations, bids, and product demonstrations.
Work closely with internal sales support resources to prepare quotations and ensure a smooth sales process.
Develop strong working relationships with suppliers and participate in regular joint customer sales calls.
Create sales and supplier plans designed to increase account penetration, retention, and overall territory performance.
Utilize sales management tools to track account activity, opportunities, and progress against established objectives.
Mentor members of the sales team and communicate relevant information and expectations to support a high level of customer service.
Self-motivated and comfortable prospecting for new business while managing and expanding established accounts. Ability to travel approximately 50%–75%, including occasional overnight travel and extended driving throughout the territory.
