The Ministry of Corrections Policing and Public Safety, Saskatoon Provincial Correctional Centre, is seeking a skilled, self-directed, and motivated individual with solid leadership, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills who enjoys working outdoors. We are looking for a candidate committed to working as part of the Outside Maintenance team and supervising a crew of adult (male) inmates. As a member of the Outside Maintenance team, you will supervise an inmate maintenance crew, guiding, coaching, and encouraging inmates to enhance their performance and develop their skills in facility ground maintenance. You will serve as a positive role model, promoting growth and development in the use of various equipment in a challenging environment. Your duties will include office furniture moving, snow removal, and other related tasks.
The successful candidate must have knowledge and experience in operating skid steer equipment and related attachments, as well as smaller equipment such as lawn mowers, weed trimmers, chainsaws, sprinkler systems, and spraying devices. You will be responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing this equipment regularly. You should be able to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong leadership skills to provide direction to inmates, along with keen observation and communication skills.
You must have the ability to diagnose technical problems related to vehicle and equipment repairs to identify causes. Additionally, you will handle and store gardening chemicals and workplace hazardous chemicals safely, with knowledge of WHMIS.

Hours of Work: C - SGEU Regulated, 37.33 hours per week, with one day off every three weeks.
