Job summary

LASIK MD in Edmonton is seeking a motivated Ophthalmic Technician (Optician or Science Graduate) to join our team. You will perform preoperative and postoperative measurements, review imaging maps, and explain procedures clearly to patients.

Proficiency with EMR systems and Microsoft 365 is preferred, with strong English communication. The role includes travel between LASIK MD South and King locations as needed and a traditional Monday–Friday schedule with some Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in science (BSc) or Opticianry/COT/COMT credentials.
• Comfort with computers and Microsoft 365 tools.
• Willingness to learn diagnostic and testing tools.
• English communication is essential.
• Experience in eye-care environment is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Complete preoperative and postoperative measurements with clear patient explanations.
• Review imaging maps to validate accuracy.
• Be knowledgeable about procedures and technologies used in the clinic.
• Provide outstanding customer service and patient care.
• Support Risk Management by reporting safety concerns or incidents.

Your tasks at a glance

• You complete preoperative and postoperative measurements, offering clear explanations to patients throughout the process.
• You review imaging maps to validate their accuracy.
• You are knowledgeable about procedures and technologies available in the clinic.
• You provide outstanding customer service and patient care.
• You support the organization’s Risk Management program by identifying and promptly reporting patient safety concerns, incidents, or potential risks to clinic management, to assist in the organization’s overall efforts to identify, report, and mitigate risks.

A clear view of your assets

• You are a graduate of a Bachelor's program in science (Bsc), an Opticianry program (license not required), a Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT), or a Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT).
• You are comfortable with computers, technology, and Microsoft 365 (knowledge of EMR systems is an asset).
• You are motivated tolearn how to use various diagnostic and testingtools.
• You have excellent communication skills in English.
• Your experience in an eye-care environment is an asset.
• Schedule: You have flexible availability on Monday to Friday between 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, with occasional Saturdays (approx. 1 Saturday p/month, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM).
• Required: You are comfortable traveling between our LASIK MD South and King LASIK locations to occasionally help as business needs shift.
