Job summary

LASIK MD in Halifax is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician (Opticianry or science graduate) to support preoperative and postoperative assessments and patient care. Join a team that values ongoing training, collaboration with ophthalmology experts, and a strong focus on patient safety.

You will review imaging maps, stay informed about clinic technologies, and travel to Atlantic region clinics for training as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in science or related field required.
• Opticianry program (license not required) considered.
• COT or COMT certification preferred.
• Comfort with computers and MS 365 is expected.

Responsibilities

• Perform preoperative and postoperative measurements for patients.
• Review imaging maps for accuracy.
• Be knowledgeable about clinic procedures and technologies.
• Provide outstanding patient care and service.
• Support Risk Management by reporting safety concerns promptly.

Your tasks at a glance

• You complete preoperative and postoperative measurements, offering clear explanations to patients throughout the process.
• You review imaging maps to validate their accuracy.
• You are knowledgeable about procedures and technologies available in the clinic.
• You provide outstanding customer service and patient care.
• You support the organization's Risk Management program by identifying and promptly reporting patient safety concerns, incidents, or potential risks to clinic management, to assist in the organization's overall efforts to identify, report, and mitigate risks.

A clear view of your assets

• You are a graduate of a Bachelor's program in science (Bsc), an Opticianry program (license not required), a Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT), or a Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT).
• You are comfortable with computers, technology, and Microsoft 365 (knowledge of EMR systems is an asset).
• You are motivated tolearn how to use various diagnostic and testingtools.
• You have excellent communication skills in English.
• Your experience in an eye-care environment is an asset.
• Required: You can travel for training and/or work to other clinics in the Atlantic region.
• Schedule: You have flexible availability on Monday to Friday between 7:30am - 4:00pm, with occasional Saturdays (approx. 1 Saturday p/month).
