Job summary

TLC Laser Eye Centres Calgary is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician (Optician or science graduate) to join a team of ophthalmology specialists. You will perform preoperative and postoperative measurements, review imaging maps, and apply knowledge of clinic procedures and technologies to guide patients through their eye care journey.

Excellent English communication is essential, with comfort using computers and MS 365; EMR experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or related field and/or Opticianry training.
• COT or COMT certification preferred.
• Comfort with computers and Microsoft 365; EMR knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform preoperative and postoperative measurements with patient explanations.
• Review imaging maps for accuracy.
• Be knowledgeable about clinic procedures and technologies.
• Provide outstanding customer service and patient care.

Your tasks at a glance

• You complete preoperative and postoperative measurements, offering clear explanations to patients throughout the process.
• You review imaging maps to validate their accuracy.
• You are knowledgeable about procedures and technologies available in the clinic.
• You provide outstanding customer service and patient care.

A clear view of your assets

• You are a graduate of a Bachelor's program in science (Bsc), an Opticianry program (license not required), a Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT), or a Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT).
• You are comfortable with computers, technology, and Microsoft 365 (knowledge of EMR systems is an asset).
• You are motivated tolearn how to use various diagnostic and testingtools.
• You have excellent communication skills in English.
• Your experience in an eye-care environment is an asset.
• Schedule: You have flexible work availability from Monday to Saturday, with occasional Sundays.
• Required: You can travel between our LASIK MD, TLC & Gimbel Eye Centre clinics in Calgary for work.
