Job summary

LASIK MD, part of Vision Group, is looking for an ophthalmic technician to join our Halifax clinic. You will perform preoperative and postoperative measurements, review imaging maps, and explain procedures to patients while providing outstanding service.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in science and related ophthalmic credentials required.
  • Opticianry program (license not required) is acceptable.
  • COT or COMT certification preferred.
  • Strong English communication and computer literacy essential.
  • Ability to travel for Atlantic-region training.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preoperative and postoperative measurements with clear patient explanations.
  • Review imaging maps for accuracy.
  • Maintain knowledge of clinic procedures and technologies.
  • Deliver outstanding patient service and care.
  • Support Risk Management by reporting safety concerns promptly.

Your tasks at a glance
  • You complete preoperative and postoperative measurements, offering clear explanations to patients throughout the process.
  • You review imaging maps to validatetheir accuracy.
  • You are knowledgeable about procedures and technologies available in the clinic.
  • You provide outstanding customer service and patient care.
  • You support the organization’s Risk Management program by identifying and promptly reporting patient safety concerns, incidents, or potential risks to clinic management, to assist in the organization’s overall efforts to identify, report, and mitigate risks.
A clear view of your assets
  • You are a graduate of a Bachelor's program in science (Bsc), an Opticianry program (license not required), a Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT), or a Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT).
  • You are comfortable with computers, technology, and Microsoft 365 (knowledge of EMR systems is an asset).
  • You are motivated tolearn how to use various diagnostic and testingtools.
  • You have excellent communication skills in English.
  • Your experience in an eye-care environment is an asset.
  • Required: You can travel for training and/or work to other clinics in the Atlantic region.
  • Schedule:You have flexible availability on Monday to Friday between 7 :30am – 4:00pm, with occasional Saturdays (approx. 1 Saturday p/month).
