Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of operations leadership experience in a unionized environment.
  • Background in transportation, logistics, distribution, food production, manufacturing, or airline operations.
  • Ability to obtain RAIC & DA security clearances.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of 20-30 employees across multiple functions.
  • Manage daily operations while maintaining productivity, quality, and safety.
  • Monitor loading/off-loading activities to ensure on-time performance.

Job description

Operations Supervisor – Richmond, BC

We are seeking Operations Supervisors to join a large airline catering and food service facility. This role oversees a team of approximately 20-30 employees across transportation, customer service, and airside operations, ensuring airline catering services are delivered safely, accurately, and on schedule.

Schedule

Shift rotation occurs approximately every 2 months, and shifts including weekends will be part of the rotation.

9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

5:00 PM – 1:00 AM

Compensation
  • $60,000 – $67,000 base salary
  • 7.5% annual bonus
  • 3 weeks’ paid vacation

Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, train, schedule and supervise a team of 20-30 employees (drivers, helps, gallery equipment team, customer service) in a unionized environment.
  • Manage daily operations while maintaining productivity, quality, and safety standards.
  • Monitor aircraft loading and off-loading activities to ensure accuracy and on-time performance.
  • Ensure airline catering deliveries meet customer requirements and operational deadlines.
  • Develop and implement training programs for operational staff.
  • Review processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and service levels.
  • Manage workforce scheduling based on daily flight schedules and operational requirements.
  • Adjust staffing levels and assignments throughout the day to support changing flight activity.
  • Coordinate aircraft changes, meal increases, delays, and other operational disruptions.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with company procedures and policies.
  • Maintain operational records and reporting documentation.
  • Drive productivity while supporting labor cost management initiatives.
  • Conduct safety audits, accident investigations, and corrective action plans.
  • Ensure compliance with ramp safety, airport security, and workplace safety standards.
  • Coach employees, manage performance issues, and administer progressive discipline when required.
  • Foster a positive, customer-focused culture while maintaining high service standards.
Requirements
  • 3-5 years of operations leadership experience in a unionized environment.
  • A background in transportation, logistics, distribution, food production, manufacturing, or airline operations would be highly valued.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain RAIC & DA security clearances.
  • Proven experience supervising and motivating hourly employees.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Experience managing employee performance, coaching, and disciplinary processes.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Lean / Six Sigma experience.
  • Airport or airline industry experience.
  • Experience managing large transportation or distribution teams.
  • Process improvement background.
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety and compliance programs.
