Job summary

Metro Supply Chain Group in Canada is seeking an Operations Supervisor to lead shift operations, drive performance, strengthen customer relations, and develop staff. You will plan labour, coordinate tasks, monitor KPI data, and ensure accurate labour approvals and cost control.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will coach team members, uphold safety standards, and maintain strong client relationships.

Qualifications

• Five years in the distribution industry; 3PL experience preferred.
• At least two years of supervisory experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and WMS.
• Bilingual in English and French.

Responsibilities

• Schedule the labour requirements for the shift to meet production goals within the budgeted cost structure.
• Complete shift briefings to communicate relevant information to all employees.
• Assign and follow up with operators on task durations and completion times.
• Ensure orders are picked in priority sequences to optimize drivers and shipments.
• Hold Team Leaders accountable for proper picking/packing and quality standards.
• Monitor, analyze, and report daily/weekly departmental performance via KPI tracking.
• Approve labour hours daily using UKG in line with policies and accurate payroll.
• Provide daily coaching and conduct performance appraisals; address disciplinary issues as needed.
• Maintain close interaction with customers to understand service requirements.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment and comply with OHSA.
• Fulfill duties of a supervisor under health, safety, and harassment laws.
• Take on additional related responsibilities as required.

Job description

Schedule : Monday to Friday from 9AM to 5:30PM

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Operations Supervisor will be responsible for all facets of the operations on the shift. This involves leading all aspects of operational performance, customer relations, continuous improvement, and people development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Schedule the labour requirements for the shift to ensure production goals are met within the budgeted cost structure.
• Complete shift briefings to ensure the effective communication of relevant information to all employees.
• Assign and follow up with operators and warehouse staff on the length of time required for tasks to be completed by noting tasks assignments and communicating approximate time of completion,
• Ensure the sequences of orders are picked based on priority shipments and priority customers therefore reducing extensive waiting times for drivers, RUSH loads and late deliveries,
• Hold Team Leaders accountable for ensuring proper picking and packing procedures are followed and that all production meets or exceeds Client's quality standards.
• Monitor, analyze and report daily/weekly departmental performance through effective KPI tracking and data collection for respective shift.
• On a daily basis approve all labour hours using UKG in adherence with company policies, maintaining accurate record keeping ensuring proper payment of employees for the shift and cost allocation to customer accounts.
• Provide daily feedback to employees through coaching and administer performance appraisals. Handle all disciplinary situations appropriately and in a timely manner with appropriate supporting documentation.
• Maintain close interaction with customers to develop strong relationships while assessing service requirements; communicate where appropriate.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Fulfill the duties of a supervisor under the Occupational Health and Safety Act including; safety, violence and harassment laws.
• Assumes additional related responsibilities as required.

EXPERIENCE

• Five (5) years of experience in the distribution industry (experience in a 3PL environment would be considered an asset).
• At least two (2) years of supervisory experience, preferably in a 3PL operation.
• Must be able to operate all material handling equipment, including Reach Truck, Dock Stocker, and Walkie.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Proficient in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
• Demonstrates excellent attendance and punctuality.

EDUCATION

• Diploma degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or combination of education and related experience
