Job summary

Metro Supply Chain Group in Montreal, QC, invites an Operations Supervisor to lead shift operations within a fast-paced 3PL environment. You will drive performance, develop people, optimize processes, and ensure client service levels meet and exceed expectations.

You will schedule labor, coach staff, manage KPIs, and collaborate with customers to maintain seamless operations while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Five years in the distribution industry, preferably in a 3PL.
• Minimum two years of supervisory experience.
• Proficient with MS Office and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
• Able to operate Reach Truck, Dock Stocker, and Walkie.
• Excellent attendance and punctuality.

Responsibilities

• Schedule labour requirements for the shift to meet production goals within budget.
• Complete shift briefings to communicate information to staff.
• Assign and supervise operators and warehouse staff; estimate task durations.
• Ensure orders are picked in priority sequence to reduce driver wait times.
• Hold Team Leaders accountable for proper picking/packing and quality standards.
• Monitor, analyze and report daily/weekly KPI performance for the shift.
• Approve labour hours using UKG and ensure accurate payroll and cost allocation.
• Provide daily feedback and coaching, conduct performance appraisals, document disciplines.
• Maintain strong customer relationships and communicate service needs as appropriate.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment and comply with Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Perform additional related responsibilities as required.

Job description

Schedule : Monday to Friday from 9AM to 5:30PM

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Operations Supervisor will be responsible for all facets of the operations on the shift. This involves leading all aspects of operational performance, customer relations, continuous improvement, and people development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Schedule the labour requirements for the shift to ensure production goals are met within the budgeted cost structure.
• Complete shift briefings to ensure the effective communication of relevant information to all employees.
• Assign and follow up with operators and warehouse staff on the length of time required for tasks to be completed by noting tasks assignments and communicating approximate time of completion,
• Ensure the sequences of orders are picked based on priority shipments and priority customers therefore reducing extensive waiting times for drivers, RUSH loads and late deliveries,
• Hold Team Leaders accountable for ensuring proper picking and packing procedures are followed and that all production meets or exceeds Client's quality standards.
• Monitor, analyze and report daily/weekly departmental performance through effective KPI tracking and data collection for respective shift.
• On a daily basis approve all labour hours using UKG in adherence with company policies, maintaining accurate record keeping ensuring proper payment of employees for the shift and cost allocation to customer accounts.
• Provide daily feedback to employees through coaching and administer performance appraisals. Handle all disciplinary situations appropriately and in a timely manner with appropriate supporting documentation.
• Maintain close interaction with customers to develop strong relationships while assessing service requirements; communicate where appropriate.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Fulfill the duties of a supervisor under the Occupational Health and Safety Act including; safety, violence and harassment laws.
• Assumes additional related responsibilities as required.

EXPERIENCE

• Five (5) years of experience in the distribution industry (experience in a 3PL environment would be considered an asset).
• At least two (2) years of supervisory experience, preferably in a 3PL operation.
• Must be able to operate all material handling equipment, including Reach Truck, Dock Stocker, and Walkie.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Proficient in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
• Demonstrates excellent attendance and punctuality.
