Job summary

Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited (P&H) is seeking an Operations Manager for the Grain & Crop Inputs division at the elevator facility in Ontario. You’ll oversee daily operations, quality control, safety culture and equipment maintenance to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant shipments.

The role requires at least 3 years in grain elevator operations, strong leadership, and proficiency with grain handling processes and basic software.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in grain elevator operations and maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of grain grading, storage and handling processes.
• Experience leading a small team and ensuring safety.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily elevator operations and ensure efficient workflow.
• Oversee quality control and blending of grain shipments.
• Lead Facility Assistants and maintain safety culture.
• Manage facility safety program and compliance with food safety standards.
• Coordinate maintenance and repairs of equipment.
• Support grain procurement and crop inputs sales.
• Ensure sound business practices are followed consistently.

Your Team

Grain & Crop Inputs: The Grain & Crop Inputs Division connects Canadian farmers to markets across the country and beyond. With a network of grain elevators, terminals, and agri-retail locations, we provide crop inputs, agronomic solutions, and grain marketing expertise to help producers succeed.

As Operations Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in managing the overall performance, maintenance, and repair of the elevator. The Operations Manager will oversee quality control measures on incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring the maintenance and compliance of a safe working environment.

Day to Day

• Supervising the daily operation of the elevator
• Managing the quality control and blending of grain
• Supervising Facility Assistants to ensure business needs are executed safely, efficiently and profitably
• Managing the facility safety program and actively working to create a strong safety culture
• Overseeing food safety compliance
• Managing regular maintenance, scheduling and repair on facility equipment
• Supporting the procurement of grain and sales of crop inputs
• Ensure reasonable business practices are followed consistently

What You’ll Bring

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in the operation of a grain elevator
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of the grain industry including grading factors, elevator equipment and processes, and effective product storage management

• Experience in team management or supervision, demonstrating effective leadership abilities
• Proficient computer skills with aptitude for learning and adapting to new software applications
