Job summary

RailWorks Corporation is seeking a Mini Tie Gang Assistant Track Foreman to lead a crew in installing track ties and maintaining railway infrastructure across Canada. The role emphasizes safe operations, daily planning, and coordination with foremen to meet production goals.

Responsibilities include conducting daily safety briefings, supervising crew performance, and ensuring compliance with Canadian Railway Operating Rules.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years related experience in railway industry.
• Knowledge of track construction and maintenance requirements.
• Certification in Canadian Railway Operating Rules (CROR).
• Ability to read and understand schedules, standard railway plans and specs.
• Safety-sensitive position with ability to supervise live railway work teams.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and railway safety regulations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient with computers/tablets for reporting and documentation.
• Ability to keep records and prepare work/time reports.
• Ability to understand and carry out instructions.
• Ability to supervise others and clearly communicate instructions.

Responsibilities

• Promote safety culture and adhere to policies.
• Serve as on-site Supervisor when Track Foreman is unavailable.
• Pre-plan activities with Track Foreman, including safety plans and track protection.
• Review job site daily; communicate hazards; document via job briefings.
• Ensure crew performance aligns with safety, quality, and schedule goals.
• Conduct daily job briefings covering protection, goals, feedback, hazards.
• Operate company vehicles and ensure daily maintenance/inspections.
• Maintain safety practices and enforce company policies.
• Communicate with customers to ensure high satisfaction.
• Coordinate with contractors or sub-contractors as needed.
• Handle administrative duties per PNR Quality Management System.
• Plan and execute tasks to achieve daily goals safely.
