Job summary

Cushman & Wakefield in Surrey, BC is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician to operate and maintain designated facilities, including single buildings or portfolios. The role involves rotating shifts, on-call emergencies, minor repairs, and preventive maintenance to maximize uptime and safety.

The Building Operator supports safety plans, maintains equipment, responds to Help Desk requests, and coordinates with third parties while ensuring customer satisfaction and compliance with service

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• 4th Class Power Engineering Ticket.
• 1+ years building operation or stationary engineer experience.
• Fall Protection & MEWP tickets preferred.
• Experience with electrical, fire alarm and mechanical systems.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to obtain CPIC clearance.
• Flexibility to work rotational shifts (days, afternoons, evenings and weekends).
• BC trade qualification preferred.
• Experience with automated building systems and CMMS.
• Mechanical aptitude and strong problem solving.
• Knowledge of safety codes and accident investigation.
• Proactive, independent and customer-focused.

Responsibilities

• Respond to help desk calls and prioritize work with lead hand.
• Maintain tools and equipment and arrange repairs as needed.
• Follow safety practices and company standards.
• Complete reports and paperwork within deadlines.
• Plan and document maintenance per contractual guidelines.
• Support monthly generator maintenance and third-party testing.
• Interact with data room and building management systems.
• Ensure customer satisfaction and effective communications.
