Job summary

WoodGreen Community Services is seeking an Overnight Support Worker to ensure resident safety and wellbeing during overnight hours at our Toronto site. The role supports seniors facing homelessness and mental health or substance use challenges.

The position focuses on crisis response, after-hours counselling, building safety, and collaboration with the care team. Previous experience in support services and a two-year diploma or security certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• Two-year diploma in social services or security certification.
• Strong de-escalation and boundary-setting skills.
• Experience with older adults or seniors with mental health/addiction challenges.

Responsibilities

• Provides reception services to staff and residents.
• Maintains building safety and security after hours.
• Enforces zero-guest policy.
• Monitors common areas and building surroundings via cameras.
• Implements crisis response strategies and de-escalation.
• Performs hourly rounds on participant floors.
• Provides after-hours supportive counselling as needed.
• Handles lockup and alarm duties and responds to alarms.
