Job description

Would you like to launch your career with one of the most successful logistics organizations worldwide? Here at Kuehne+Nagel, our Toronto site is looking for a new National Road Logistics Controller to join our Finance team.

Your Role

As our National Controller supporting our Road and Customs Logistics Business Unit, you will act as the business partner to provide financial expertise, strategic development support, collaboration, and robust risk assessment. Your goal is to drive and challenge sustainable, profitable growth while ensuring financial health. You will ensure financial transactional accuracy, remain ICS compliant, provide accurate forecasting, and proactively improve BU processes and efficiencies for our Road and Customs Logistics Business Unit.

Your Responsibilities
  • Work as the Financial Business Partner to provide strategic development and support to the road and customs business units, ensuring financial integrity, profitable growth, and strong KPI health.
  • Analyze customer and product profitability and monitor to mitigate loss-making departments and customers.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to drive and enhance business/product growth.
  • Analyze financial reports and KPIs, ensuring improvement actions are taken.
  • Produce accurate forecasts and targets in conjunction with the business unit operations.
  • Identify risks and sensitivities, providing guidance and recommendations.
  • Drive continuous improvement of financial reporting regarding data quality, completeness, and relevancy.
  • Independently process month-end closing to ensure accurate revenue, GP, and cost recognition, with minimal losses.
  • Control, monitor, and adhere to ICS (internal audit controls) and corporate policies and guidelines.

Your Skills and Experiences
  • Diploma/Degree in Business or Finance; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 7-10 years of experience in a financial controlling position or senior FP&A role.
  • Experience in logistics, freight forwarding environments, especially in Road Logistics and Customs, is strongly beneficial.
  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma is beneficial.
  • CMA or CPA designation is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrable experience in cost savings, process simplification and improvement, implementing efficiency gains, and measuring and reporting on key indicators.
  • Ability to independently build business plans, identify gaps and opportunities, assess risks, and make informed decisions.
  • Flexibility to travel as required to support the Canada National operations.
