Job summary

Fraser Health Authority in British Columbia, Canada, seeks a Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse to deliver person-centered mental health and substance use services. In collaboration with police, you respond to 911 calls, perform on-site assessments, and ensure appropriate intervention with a focus on recovery and safety.

Qualifications

• Graduation from approved School of Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing.
• Two years recent related experience with mental health/substance use.
• Current practicing registration with BCCNM; valid Class 5 BC Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Responds to crisis situations, coordinating with police and emergency providers.
• Assesses lethality and suicide risk, and determines intervention urgency.
• Develops treatment options with client input and refers to community services.
• Screens urgent situations and arranges transportation as required.
• Provides medication management and patient education about medications.
• Collaborates with interprofessional team to adjust care plans.
• Documents assessments, care plans, and outcomes per Fraser Health standards.
• Participates in quality improvement and research activities.
• Provides health education to clients, families, and consumer groups.
• Advocates for clients and supports access to services.
• Promotes Mobile Integrated Crisis Response Program and related committees.
• Participates in case conferences for high-need clients.
• Identifies learning needs and pursues ongoing professional development.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
