Job summary

Fraser Health in British Columbia seeks a Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse to provide and coordinate nursing care for clients with substance use challenges. The role includes assessment, referrals, counselling, teaching and health promotion in collaboration with an interprofessional care team.

You will deliver direct care, administer medications, participate in crisis intervention, and contribute to care planning and program development within a patient-centered care framework.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved Nursing Program with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Completion of approved addictions or substance use training or certificate program, and one year's related experience in addictions settings. May require CPR/First Aid and a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care and develop client-specific care plans in collaboration with the health care team.
• Administer medications, carry out treatments, and monitor effects.
• Lead crisis intervention and manage emergencies per established policies.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team through rounds, conferences and meetings.
• Provide education to clients and families about health, illness prevention, and treatment plans.
• Document nursing assessments, care plans, interventions, and outcomes.
