Job summary

Discovery Kidd Creek in Timmins, Ontario invites a Mining Engineering student to join a 12-month co-op beginning January 2027. You will work alongside experienced Mining Engineers, Technologists and Technicians in a deep, technically challenging mine environment, focusing on engineering design and field exposure.

Work includes preparing designs and drawings for drilling, blasting and backfill, and gaining exposure to ventilation, ground control, scheduling, surveying and mine design.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Mining Engineering program at a recognized Canadian university.
• Thrives in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and preferably Amine.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Authorized to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Work in an office setting with some field exposure, preparing engineering designs and drawings for drilling, blasting and backfill.
• Be exposed to practical aspects of engineering design in ventilation, ground control, scheduling, surveying and mine design.
• Collaborate with Mining Engineers, Technologists and Technicians on diverse projects.

The Position

Located in Timmins, Ontario, Discovery Kidd Creek consists of Mine and Concentrator sites focused on developing and sustaining economic mining plans for its ore body. The mine extends to a depth of 3.01 km (9,889 ft), making Kidd the world’s deepest base-metal mine.

Discovery Kidd Creek is now accepting resumes from students of Mine Engineering for a co-op placement beginning in January 2027. This is for a 12-month duration.

The position offers an excellent opportunity to work closely with experienced Mining Engineers, Technologists and Technicians in an extremely deep and technically challenging mining environment. You will be challenged with work from a variety of engineering disciplines, most significantly Mining Engineering. You will work in an office setting, with some exposure to work in the field and prepare engineering designs and drawings using standard computer techniques for drilling, blasting, and backfill processes. As part of the Engineering team, you will be exposed to the practical aspects of Engineering Design in areas of ventilation, ground control, scheduling, surveying, projects, or mine design.

Skills And Qualifications

• Be enrolled in a Mining Engineering program at a recognized Canadian university

• Possess working knowledge of AutoCAD and preferably Amine
• Have strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Be legally entitled to work in Canada
