Discovery Mining Ltd. in Timmins, Ontario, invites Electrical Engineering students to join Kidd Operations as a 12-month co-op for Winter 2027.

The role is based at the mine site and reports to the Maintenance Engineering Department, supporting a range of electrical and automation tasks. The successful candidate will work on a Ventilation on Demand Automation project, assist with EARs, and help maintain the document management system while developing professional skills in a dynamic mining

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an engineering program at a recognized Canadian university.
• Ability to excel in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Legally authorized to work in Canada.
• Preference for automation background or related Electrical Engineering applications.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Ventilation on Demand Automation projects across both mechanical and electrical disciplines.
• Investigate and resolve EARs in accordance with industry standards.
• Support the maintenance and organization of the document management database.
• Collaborate with cross-functional project teams to ensure effective communication and outcomes.
• Assist with general office tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.

Discovery’s Kidd Operations has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineering Co-op.

The Position

Located in Timmins, Ontario, Kidd Operations consists of Mine and Concentrator sites focused on developing and sustaining economic mining plans for its ore body. The mine extends to a depth of 3.01 km (9,889 ft), making Kidd the world’s deepest base‑metal mine.

Kidd Operations is now accepting resumes from Electrical Engineering students for co‑op placements (12-months) beginning this Winter or as soon as possible.

Responsibilities

Based at our mine site, the chosen candidates will report to the Maintenance Engineering Department and will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Contributing to the implementation of a Ventilation on Demand Automation Project, encompassing both mechanical and electrical disciplines
• Investigating and resolving Engineering Assistance Requests (EARs) in compliance with industry standards
• Supporting the maintenance and organization of the document management database
• Collaborating with cross‑functional project teams to ensure effective communication and outcomes
• Assisting with general office tasks and other responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor

Skills And Qualifications

The ideal candidate will:

• Be currently enrolled in an Engineering program at a recognized Canadian university
• Demonstrate the ability to excel in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment
• Possess proficiency in AutoCAD
• Exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Hold legal authorization to work in Canada
• Preference will be given to candidates with a background in Automation or relevant experience in Electrical Engineering applications
