Job summary

Maple Leaf Foods in London, Ontario, is seeking a qualified Maintenance Mechanic to oversee lubrication routines on processing equipment and building infrastructure, ensuring safe plant operations and a safe working environment.

You will perform predictive maintenance, troubleshoot issues, execute SAP work orders, interpret drawings, fabricate components, weld as needed, and uphold GMP/HACCP/WHMIS standards.

Qualifications

• Red Seal Industrial Mechanic/Millwright certification with 3+ years field experience
• Legally entitled to work in Canada
• Extensive knowledge of plant and process equipment operations
• Ability to execute planned daily tasks with minimal supervision
• Ability to work in a team-based environment
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Must have a full complement of personal/professional hand tools
• Knowledge of Maintenance Reliability (predictive & preventive maintenance) and predictive tech includes laser alignment, dial indicators, micrometers, precision levels
• Testing equipment such as vibration analysis and related techniques
• Basic knowledge of safety, food safety and environmental regulations
• Ontario Electrical license or Refrigeration “B” license would be an asset
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Sense of urgency and attention to detail
• Basic computer skills
• Availability for overtime including weekends/holidays/shifts
• Ability to work various shifts

Responsibilities

• Lead lubrication routines for processing equipment and facility infrastructure
• Troubleshoot and execute corrective maintenance
• Complete work requests and apply corrective action
• Process work orders and track inventory and labor in SAP
• Interpret mechanical/pneumatic/hydraulic drawings and schematics
• Machine and fabricate components for repairs/upgrades
• Welding of equipment or parts as needed
• Ensure operations comply with GMPs, HACCP, WHMIS and safety policies
• Adhere to plant health and safety policies
