Interior Health in Williams Lake, BC is seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Assistant to join the Cariboo Memorial Hospital laboratory team. You will perform blood collection, specimen preparation, routine tests, LIS data entry, and related clerical tasks in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate has Grade 12, a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program, one year of related experience, and a valid Canadian driver’s license; typing 25 WPM is required.

• Canadian Driver’s License as required by the position.
• Ability to type 25 WPM with a 5 minute invigilated typing test within 48 months from an approved institution.

About the Job

Cariboo Memorial Hospital (CMH) has 28 inpatient beds, 14 Emergency beds plus a trauma room, in addition to a 4-bed ICU and obstetrics unit. CMH is a very close-knit team of multi-disciplinary professionals, and we pride ourselves on supporting one another in the Lab, and across the facility.

The fast pace, acuity and unique needs of every patient offer the opportunity to learn and develop your skill set. CMH is a diverse care environment that is undergoing expansion and there are opportunities in the Lab and other departments, as the site and community grows. Medical Laboratory Assistants perform a variety of duties such as taking blood and specimen samples from patients, preparing blood and other specimens for analysis, performing routine laboratory tests, distributing specimens to departments and outside Laboratories, operating related equipment, entering data into the Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and performing related clerical duties and ECG testing as required.

This is a Permanent Full Time (1.00) opportunity.

Shifts of work will be scheduled Tuesday to Saturday, day and evening shifts.

Qualfications
