We are seeking an experienced Mechatronics Engineer to join an exciting and fast-growing HVAC and Chiller company, offering flexibility, competitive benefits, training, and career progression opportunities.

Overview

The Mechatronics Engineer will be responsible for the design, analysis, and development of active magnetic bearing (AMB) systems, integrating mechanical, electrical, and control components. This role involves working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver cutting-edge bearing solutions for high-speed rotating machinery.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop magnetic bearing systems including mechanical structures, electromagnets, and sensor configurations.
• Perform system modeling, dynamic simulations, and finite element analysis (FEA) to optimize performance.
• Develop and implement control algorithms for active magnetic bearings (AMB).
• Integrate hardware and software for bearing control systems, including PCB design and embedded programming.
• Conduct testing, validation, and troubleshooting of prototypes.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and control engineers throughout the product lifecycle.
• Prepare technical documentation, reports, and contribute to intellectual property (patents).
• Support customer and field teams with technical expertise as needed.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Experience: 5+ years of experience in magnetic bearing systems, rotor dynamics, or related field (new graduates with exceptional skills will also be considered).
• Strong understanding of electromagnetics, rotor dynamics, and vibration analysis.
• Proficiency in CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) and FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL).
• Knowledge of control systems design (MATLAB / Simulink) and embedded programming (C / C++).
• Experience with power electronics, PCB design, and sensor integration is an asset.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills

• Hands-on experience with prototyping and lab testing of AMB systems.
• Knowledge of ISO / ASME / IEC standards for rotating machinery.
• Familiarity with industrial applications (e.g., compressors, turbines, flywheels).
• Prior experience in R&D or product development environments.

Salary up to CAD 140,000 depending on experience plus benefits!
